Spotsaas started with a problem Rajat Gupta saw up close while building software himself. As a founder, he learned firsthand how damaging a bad software decision can be — not just financially, but in terms of team velocity and morale.
When he looked for a better way to evaluate software, most of the market felt built to generate leads for vendors, not clarity for buyers. Rankings were hard to trust. Comparisons stayed too shallow. Basic pricing details were often absent.
So he built Spotsaas to put buyers first: a place where software research is transparent, shortlists are easier to build, and visibility is earned through relevance — not ad spend.
