Charged me despite no validated email

Apparently I signed up months back to Scribd. The issue was that the email address I entered was incorrect and would definitely have bounced! So no welcome email, no receipts etc. Yet despite not having a validated email address they continued to charge me a monthly fee. Once I saw the recurring payment they only refunded 1 month subscription. Surely this is not legal to charge someone without a validated email address??? I hope the document I read was worth it, as I'm $100 out of pocket :-(

CANCELLING ACCESS AFTER PAYMENT MADE

I paid for one month subscription via Paypal. Then stopped further recurring payments after the month. Immediately, Scribd cancelled the one month subscription I had paid for. Have sent email to their Support team but no reply. -------------------------- Have completed the form on the address given by the reply. Waited for 24 hours after the reply from Scribd. No email with a 7 digit number Another wild goose chase and time waster from Scribd

This website is all about monopoly

This website is all about monopoly, it forces you to subscrive, why can not i read a single document without waiting 30 seconds for ad to skip, which will reappear in every 10 seconds, why do this people blur rest of the document if i have not subscribed. "OH SUBSCRIBE FOR FREE TRIAL AND THE CANCEL" what the point in this. some of the people are pupils and students who desperately needs one document for their assigment and does not even have the damn credit card to subscribe for free trial. ...

Absolute rip off site

Absolute rip off site. Do not use. They just continue to take your money, even if you have cancelled your subscription. Have stolen over £100 from me and WON’T pay it back. AVOID - AVOID - AVOID

Taken money without my knowledge

I remember using scribd once to get some sheet music, but since then I haven't used it. I have absolutely no recollection of giving them my card details and setting up a subscription but I've just found that I've been charged £21.98 since November for a service I didn't know I had, and it would seem that I'm not the only one with this experience

Opaque Website, Frustrating Interface

Scribd/Everand seems to be satisfied with having the most opaque website and user experience going. It seems to be ignorant that the are three phases in purchasing/renting a book: Before, Reading, and After. By brute force web design, they manage to stuff all of that together. As a result, if you put a book on your “Saved” list, the deal is done. You rented it. If you click on it at their website, you are whisked to reading it on your screen. From the saved list, it is downloaded to a ...

I did not even know I subscribed - no way to cancel

I suddenly found that I have been paying a $14.99 subscription to Scribd per month since April 2023 but have no recollection of signing up to anything and no emails or contact at all from Scribd. I had never even heard of Scribd. I don't even have any idea how to cancel as I have no account or even a single message from these fraudsters! Who can I talk to about how to cancel? Crooks

Scammers

Scammers. I subscribed so I could get the answers for a book on Algebra. The PDF had only 5 pages with a broken link.
