Quark was my intermediate step between MS Publisher and Adobe InDesign in the earlier 2000s.
What do you like best? Manageable graphic user interface for entry users. What do you dislike? Not an "industry standard" and developed within a software flow. I prefer the monthly subscription contract that Adobe offers that keeps the software constantly up-to-date. Recommendations to others considering the product Explore the options that affect your workflow in your niche. What business problems are you solving with the product? Good Ideas, Not the Best Execution
What do you like best? You can accomplish alot in the program and make sure that things are properly prepped to run to print. There are lots of tools, similar to those in Adobe programs to make things a little easier to understand. What do you dislike? The UX isn't the best. For some reason your mind fights against what the reality of the interface is. Things could run smoother with more streamlined tools and less steps to use each. What business problems are you solving with the ...

Dated
What do you like best? Quark is a solid program with great font management. Quark has a great system for managing style sheets and publishing multipage documents. I think of Quark as the technical designers program rather than the creative designers program. What do you dislike? Designers generally use Adobe products for photography/design the only thing I would have against is is it isn't fully integrated with the other programs I use most. Quark was too slow to upgrade it's user ...

A great familiar experience.
What do you like best? I like that I can open it and just get to work. There are innovations to the product, but you don't get lost in the new features. All the basic layout tools are front and center. What do you dislike? There really isn't anything I dislike with the newer products. In the past it was compatibility issues, which have been fixed. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I needed layout software and quark is the best.

Doesnt seem relevant anymore, most of the industry has moved on the Adobe InDesign
What do you like best? Liked that it paved the way for multi-page projects but unfortunately not a standard in the current print design world. What do you dislike? No completely user friendly with adobe suite. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Still use the software because our old documents are in Quark but i have been converting files to InDesign.

Quark user for over 16 years
What do you like best? The software is fairly easy to use and is great at what it was designed for - page layout. I still prefer Quark over InDesign. What do you dislike? The versions of Quark I used could be slow to load at times. The program could also be a little buggy. I would save often while working in a file in case the program crashed. Recommendations to others considering the product I haven't used the versions past 8.5 but my advice would be to save often. What business ...

Good
What do you like best? I like that QuarkXPress is easy to use. The tools are easy to use. I also like the new user interface. Nice and clean. What do you dislike? It may not be as pricey as the other programs(Adobe, but still a little pricey for me. You cannot do basic image editing, like contrast or brightness. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Digital Publishing was a problem we need to solve. QuarkXPress gave us the ability to ...

What do you like best? I appreciated the simple nature of the tool I learned quark before any of the adobe layout software and it was an easy transition from ms paint / word to quark What do you dislike? I honestly don't remember running into many problems I think if there had been a way to more accurately place the shapes on the page that would have been helpful Recommendations to others considering the product Sure for a small business or an older user What business problems are you ...
