Quark Xpress, the good, the bad....
What do you like best? Robust desktop publishing software, leader in the industry, great fun to use. Got the job done. Used it from version 4 through 10, 15 years. Nice typography control to create really nice branded experiences. It was fast to start up and get going, once it was through crashing. What do you dislike? Need to purchase a lot of 3rd party plugins to get it to do anything. There were some horrible years of crashing and instability, causing stress on whether client files ...

Quark Express. Great Page layout
What do you like best? The best part of Quark Express is the tools and paragraph layout for building a magazine or booklet. What do you dislike? The only thing I dislike about Quark is it has problems when bringing in some vector files with transparency. It tends to bug out on that and also some problems when using true type fonts. Recommendations to others considering the product Great layout for Publications. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits ...

somewhat obsolete
What do you like best? Mostly I use Quark just to open old files and make minor revisions. Supposedly the newest version is competitive with InDesign, but most everyone a designer interacts with is using InDesign. What do you dislike? Upgrade prices are way too steep. $350 for each and every version. Would really like to upgrade but not at that rate. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? The only real problem it solves at this point is ...

Quark Review
What do you like best? I find the interface clean and easy to use. What do you dislike? This program is not as versatile as some newer products. Recommendations to others considering the product If you are doing simple page layout this it a good solution. If your needs are more diverse, look into something with more capability What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Easier to teach other people to use.

Just What I Need
What do you like best? I like the ease of use that I have with Quark XPress. I can use it to create small or large projects and I have the flexibility and design control that I need. I've used the product for many years and the upgrades just keep making it better. What do you dislike? There are features that I would love to use if I understood them better. Easy-to-follow tutorials would help solve this problem. Recommendations to others considering the product Take the time to explore ...

Quark is Quirky
What do you like best? Quark is the first "real" page layout software that I learned to use beyond the basic Microsoft Word world. My experience and mastering this program helped me land a job with a printing company 10-15 years ago, so learning this was a good stepping stone for me. What do you dislike? There were a lot of things I didn't like. It was pretty quirky. It didn't have the features, functions, bells, whistles and options as InDesign. Part of the InDesign appeal is the ...

Quark Xpress
What do you like best? Quark is a robust program for setting up letters and flyers that is great to use once you get over the learning curve and are able to make the most of it's advantages. What do you dislike? The learning curve is high as it takes a little training to get used to the program. It could also use some additional processes like variable printing options. Recommendations to others considering the product Consider it as a good option other than InDesign as a desktop editor. ...

Helpful
What do you like best? When it comes to Quark we use it to create and update programs and ancient files from years ago. We have an older version that still holds up to newer programs like Indesign. I would say Quark is resilient through the ages and has great features like character styles, linking text boxes with chains, master pages etc. It works well in creating PDF booklets and has a simpler interface that is easier to learn the basics. What do you dislike? While it does have an ...

Quark 2017
What do you like best? It's so very Quark and yet still up to date. What do you dislike? There's very little I don't like about Quark. Its mail merge is slightly clunky. Recommendations to others considering the product Very stable. Knows publishing. Better than ID. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? All layout and design issues are solved with QXP.
