Make your maps more accurate.
What do you like best? I used the Qgis for the statistical calculation and making map to show the distribution of the Cardiovascular diseases during the last decade in my Country, whilst doing my help to the Medical University. What I like , this software is really beneficial and free to use rather than other programs. Make your maps more reliable
What do you like best? I have been using the QGIS more than 2 years as a professional environmental scientist. The only GIS application is worth to use ever. I really like and appreciate the creators of the software itself , because it makes the scientists works easier than previous. Because in this market, there many applications, but none of them was as useful as QGIS. And it's free to use rather than other GIS applications. What do you dislike? Even though app itself is free to use, ...

Open, Free GIS Platform
What do you like best? I appreciate that any user can download and begin using this program compared to other alternatives which cost a sizable amount. What do you dislike? There is a substantive learning curve for the software if you don't already have a background in GIS. Recommendations to others considering the product: Worth a try as it is freeware and will not cost your organization. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Using ...

Really remarkable resource for FREE!
What do you like best? The GUI is very usable and straightforward if you've used a GIS before. One can accomplish everything, or nearly everything that you would have to pay thousands of dollars for otherwise. As such, QGIS is a complete GIS solution for me! What do you dislike? I honestly have nothing that I dislike about the software! I enjoy using it! Recommendations to others considering the product: Don't hesitate to download and use the software! It's an unbelievable ...

Solid open source GIS option
What do you like best? The best part of QGIS is that it's open source. It's by far the best free GIS option available. What do you dislike? One area QGIS could improve on is the final display quality for maps. The display options could use some improvement so they can better compare to not-free GIS programs. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? At my current internship I'm using QGIS to create local government flood extent maps. The ...

An excellent introductory GIS application
What do you like best? There are two things that make QGIS my go-to GIS tool. First, the community that surrounds QGIS is absolutely fantastic. I've done some fairly advanced work with GIS software, mainly consisting of mapping sales territories across Canada for a Fortune 500 company. Not used to this particular style of GIS application, I needed a lot of help to get me off the ground and familiar with the tools. There is an incredible amount of support online, in the form of forums and ...

Flexible Vector & Raster Analysis with QGIS
What do you like best? Unlike MapInfo v16 that I use, QGIS 2.18.16 doesn't require premium/advanced license to access satellite Bing imageries. There is an openlayer plugin that enables web access to satellite imageries. QGIS can perform most Vector&Raster analytical algorithms that ArcGIS does. What do you dislike? I tried opening tabfiles manipulated using mapinfo v16 in QGIS and it was prompting errors saying invalid data source. I think the tabfile has restrictions because the same ...

What do you like best? It is free, it has awesome plugins. It has a big community of developer and users. What do you dislike? Processing large raster data is a pain and it crashes very often. Best open-source GIS - QGIS
What do you like best? Is there an alternate to costly ArcGIS software performing GIS analysis? yes, and the best is QGIS. The best part is availability of wide range of plugins and tools that can be customized to perform all the GIS actions. Being on open source software, availability to students, graduate engineers and non engineering professional makes this most friendly GIS software. GDAL and OGR libraries come with handy command-line tools. These tools are quite powerful and can save ...
