Creating a problem and selling the solution is not an ethical business practice

"Sent with Proton Mail secure email." is forced into every email you try to send. Sure you can manually remove it everytime but it's just annoying. Of course you can start paying to remove this. Instead a more ethical approach can be implemented: Give users an additional 500mb of storage for free if they regularly send emails with the Proton Mail footer for an extended period of time. Giving dedicated users an additional 500mb way too expensive? Another solution would be to give these ...

I have been a very happy and satisfied…

I have been a very happy and satisfied user of ProtonMail and ProtonVPN for the last 3-4 years. However, in relation to my last yearly renewal they removed my lifetime discount, with the reason that I had changed my plan. The ONLY change I made was adding a new credit card as my old one was expired. I am both baffled and frustrated by this customer service, and will out of pure principle terminate my Visionary plan (which I thought I would be keeping for life - very strange and indifferent ...

Avoid Proton Mail

Opened an account with Proton Mail. Immediately on billing my PayPal the Proton account was locked throwing up an error. Clearly a Proton Mail account system fault. After several emails to customer support the reply is they “can’t assist me” and won’t even respond to a refund request. All the replies feel bot driven. Luckily PayPal came to the rescue with a refund. Lesson - avoid Proton Mail.

A few of my emails were banned because I violated their TOS. I don't think I have violated anything. On top, those accounts were linked to social media accounts of mine and they don't allow me to log in for 24 hours to at least get access to my social media accounts. I'm not requesting to have my emails enabled again, as they can decide who can use their service, but I want at least access to my email accounts for a short time, so I can access my social media accounts. Hopefully they can fix it.

Good customer service

Given some of the previous comments here I would have to say their customer service must have improved significantly. They were very quick to respond to my issues and very reasonable in their response. My only issue was the initial confusion around what having multiple email accounts meant when I signed up but this was cleared up very quickly and resolved by them in a fair way so I have to give them 4 stars.

Great product idea, but lacks basic features

I have had a paid subscription for over a year now, which in my opinion is worth it. However, my big problem with Protonmail a lot of basic features are missing, for example accepting a meeting request that has been forwarded. Or, having a calendar widget for iOS. Or, basic calendar colors. Instead of adding these basic features, they are focusing on building new apps to form an ecosystem like MS Office / Google Workspace so they can earn more money. They lack the capability to finish ...

Reliable paid mail service with poor CS

I've been using Proton Mail as my main private email service for many years, since they first came out to the market. I started with a free subscription just to try it, and I was happy with the quality of the service, especially the end-to-end encryption and all the security features. After that, I've paid for a personal plan for several years already. The differences between the paid and the free versions and the pricing can be found on their website. One of the things that made me sign ...
