Proton mail seems to have algorithmic "social credit" (corporate "credit" scores) and is highly dysfunctional, obviously not secure (just ask some hackers or their employees/ex-employees). Meaning, as is, they are not worth considering.

Flee their Fee - "you can check out any time you like, buy you can never leave"

I had not used their service or accessed my account for over a year. I then get hit with a $95 bill to my credit card. They shared with me that I had canceled my account but would not refund my money. I am now at the stage where I have to address it as a fraud charge with my card company. Proton Mail then shared with my card company that I am accessing my account, which is not true because I don't even have a correct password since I deleted the account over a year ago.

I actually use all of their products…

I actually use all of their products and have a paid subscription, the ecosystem is growing and they are doing a great job! The email is by far the best but the password manager and the vpn are also amazing. If I had to point any bad thing it would be only the proton calendar not having enough integrations

I like this email service and why is because you don't have to own a phone to have an email at this place so far that I know of. All sorts of free email service options out there but this is one of really nice one. It was helpful when I didn't have a cell phone and I had to go to the library to use the email service. Now uses smartphone and they have a app and it works really well so far. Would recommend this email service to anyone so far.

Disappointing support

Update: I did receive a reply shortly after with resolution of the issue. Have no issues with proton mail as a mail service but their customer supports is hit or miss, so far seems more on the miss side. My goal was to reopen a free email I own then have it deleted and whitelist it for migrating to my paid account as an alias. Support responded a single time and never followed up after I provided them some basic info to get the account re-opened. There's no reason to pay for a service if ...
