Panopto Reviews in January 2025: User Ratings, Pros & Cons

emm..., no!

I am sorry but this software is not at all user-friendly. I have spent numerous hours trying to navigate my own learning around it but sadly to no avail. It is not in the slightest intuitive. I have become extremely disengaged with it, therefore, far from enhancing my presentations and improving my students experience. Why cloud processes what could be made simple? Unfortunately, there is not a option on here to rate Panopto with a fraction of one star. Money for old rope!

Panopto saved us during COVID

We, at The American University in Cairo, have been using Panopto since Spring 2009. The best example of how important it is to us, is how it was used to allow the continuation of instruction during the COVID closure. The level of support required was sky high, but everyone at Panopto was there for us.

One of the best video CMS and learning platforms on the market. Also, hands down the best customer support of any company/supplier that I have ever worked with.

Panopto is one of the best purchases our institution has made. The ease of recording content (especially for classroom lectures or departmental meetings) is such a valuable tool. We can now share content with a more professional look and feel. The automatic transcription of the video content and the table of contents are features that save time.

I work at a grad school that's been using Panopto for over a decade and merged in with our University after they saw all the benefits to our school during the pandemic. We mostly use it for course recordings and our students love all the different ways that Panopto makes these long videos much more accessible because of the search features, the captions, the ability to speed up playback and so much more! University experience…

I am studying at university and this year we have started using Panopto. I found that you can’t upload over normal mobile internet. I have found the app continually doesn’t work and I have tried deleting and reinstalling so many times. Also using safari is time consuming and doesn’t always work. Upload also takes forever. I find OneDrive to be much more effective for storing videos and I will not record on it as I do not trust it and have heard of others students videos not saving. I found ...

What do you like best about Panopto? It's got good support, and it has a great system for user access. What do you dislike about Panopto? My users are trying to adapt it for insecure transmissions, and they run into sharing troubles that really shouldn't be happening in the modern age.
