Essbase-Excellent Analytical tool available today in the Market

What do you like best? The ASO and BSO cube structure helps to build the cubes as per the business needs and is very flexible and efficient to use with in addition to scripts and inbuilt calculations. What do you dislike? The look of the application should be improved. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Data analysis on the adhoc basis. Report making for the month end and quarter end is easier with Essbase. Data loadings are ...

Excellent product for Corporate Finance

What do you like best? The simplicity with which the end result can be presented to users for financial analysis using Drill up/down and drill through mechanism to get a real picture of financial data. The ease of importing data along with the ease of defining hierarchies in Essbase cube works like a charm.Business logic using the custom language is pretty logical and easy to learn and adapt. What do you dislike? Very rarely, there are times when the cube doesn't behave in the way ...

Power User of Essbase Excel Add-In Tool

What do you like best? Essbase is a very useful tool in financial reporting. I use it every period to create 4 different company-wide reporting decks on channel, customer and product performance. Essbase is a multi-dimensional database, while not as easy to use as a relational database it is very simple to pull many granular intersections of data. What do you dislike? The time required to update the database at the end of every period is longer than I would like. I know there are ...

Solid Database

What do you like best? I like the functionality of Essbase. Once you know how to use it, it's simple, reliable and fast. What do you dislike? Essbase is difficult for new users. I find it has a very steep learning curve and requires that users know their dimensions, otherwise if prone to (mostly user) error. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Essbase is so fast and efficient. As we move into more visualizations for the business, we ...

Powerful excel based tool

What do you like best? Essbase is a simple tool that provides users with a dynamic way to access data in a format similar to them (pivot table like). The ability to write back data and interact with data on a live basis is great. What do you dislike? Dimension training can be difficult for new users to get to know a cube. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Cash Forecasting with the ability for users to re-categorize cash ...

No issues with on prem

What do you like best? No major issues with on prem, however I am technical enough to handle any issues such as services and upgrades/patches to end user connections and training so this could be why I don't mind on pre vs cloud What do you dislike? There is nothing that I dislike about this product. I have worked with it for years and love it!! What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? we are looking to move to the cloud

It is very good cube technology. Hae been using it for years ASO only. BSO is slow.

What do you like best? You can add all the dimensions that are needed. It is quite flexible and has rich set of attributes. The technology is quite mature. What do you dislike? ASO aggregate view may take a lokng time to re-build. ASO build may cause conflicts with data loads. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Financial Planning and profitability and cost managment.
