Sometimes the ability to track the data can be challenging What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? The ability to drill into the underlying data is very valuable

Love Essbase

What do you like best? Love the capabilities to pull data in Smarview. Super excited to have JUST learned more about leveraging MDX as a tool for myself and my super users. What do you dislike? Limitations and slowness in Ad Hoc queries. (hoping to transcend these with MDX) What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Highly utilized by my power users to do analytic pulls.

Rapid aggregation of data in both BSO and ASO, ease of use via smartview for self-service reporting for business users, depth & flexibility of function library for writing calculations, financial intelligence. Many languages to learn to achieve proficiency: Essbase calc scripting, MaxL, MDX, DOS scripting, and for advanced users, PowerShell/Java/etc. Many administration tasks seem like they could be simplified or automated. How multidemensional has to be done.

What do you like best? Essbase, as experts in multidimensional databases know the product Oracle Analytics, is a special database tuned for analysis purposes, allows true dimension structures which are ragged. What do you dislike? The listprice, although companies who use it extensively, say it is worth each dollar. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Insight into your data via dimension rollups and completed by calculations of KPIs.

What do you like best? I like the functionality of Essbase. Once you know how to use it, it's simple, reliable and fast. What do you dislike? Essbase is difficult for new users. I find it has a very steep learning curve and requires that users know their dimensions, otherwise if prone to (mostly user) error. What problems are you solving with the product? What do you like best? Abilty to summarize & analyze data. Write back capabilities. Low IT involvement What do you dislike? MDX queries are not stored centrally. Financial Reports tool is difficult to use and not user frienly. Smartview keeps crashing on some machines. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
