OpenProject - An excellent application for tracking projects and effort

What do you like best? The effort tracking feature is one feature of this application that I love the most. It is designed very efficiently that makes it easy for the users to use it. Creating filters and saving them is one main feature that I love the most. It helps to save time and you could get all the information at the click of a button. Creating custom rows and columns under while creating Cost Reports is another thing that is very useful. I do this on a weekly basis and has helped ...

Very good but has a room for improvement

What do you like best? Have been using it for around 2 years now to manage projects of various sizes. Easy to understand and master it. What do you dislike? Inability to group & minimize child work packages under a parent. This leads to a lot of clutter for projects of a reasonable size. UI improvements are needed. Especially with the filters & cost reports. While there is an option to maintain relationship between work packages in different projects, there is no way that the ...

Excellent app - would be good to have report exporting

What do you like best? I have been using OpenProject for the past 2 years. I was using Redmine previously in my company before moving to OpenProject. I love the UI offered by OpenProject - it's not as boring or monotonous as Redmine. As a project manager, I constantly monitor the status of bugs reported within my projects. The ease of use in setting up filters and saving these filters privately/publicly is a feature that has helped me within my organization and with my clients. Setting a ...

Similar to MS Project but without the hefty pricetag

What do you like best? OpenProj is an inexpensive alternative to high-priced applications like MS Project. It is easy to use and not nearly as cumbersome as other scheduling programs. Perfect option for someone looking to create basic project schedules and display timelines in bar chart or calendar form. Easily tracks percentage of task completed, start/end dates, etc. Print to PDF or use Snipping Tool to save as an image file. What do you dislike? Would be nice if files could open in ...

Not bad, but not very userfriendly

What do you like best? It keeps track of every change, and a lot seems possible in terms of commenting and task descriptions. What do you dislike? User experience isn't very good. Navigating isn't very easy or fast, and writing a task sometimes gives errors in both submitting as well as formatting. Recommendations to others considering the product: See if you really need it. Others might be more user friendly or time saving, so only choose this one if you need particular ...

Complicated Project Management

What do you like best? We appreciated that you would always share projects and view all projects. What do you dislike? I did like the overview of how Open Project is supposed to work but my team and I started very confused. It was a lot of information to retain and we just never got used to it. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? No benefits
