great tool for project management and scheduling

What do you like best? great tool to set up and follow up project activities coordination, scheduling, and discussing project productivity. Allows for resource planning and understanding key blockers. What do you dislike? Sometimes it is an overkill for smaller/simpler projects. The gantt views are either too broad or to detailed. A more executive view or summary timeline is necessary. Recommendations to others considering the product: great tool, enterprise grade ...

Microsoft Project and Sharepoint

What do you like best? Microsoft is at the top of the game when it comes to Project software. What do you dislike? Smaller simple projects are overwhelmed with the number of options. Would be nice to have a pared-down version of the application for smaller projects Recommendations to others considering the product: Assess the type of projects that are available on the market. MS Project is great for a large and complex project but maybe overkill for any of the projects that ...

Microsoft project plans

What do you like best? It's a dinamic software which I use to manage all our R&D project. You can define a critical path, later on change the variables and understand the impact to it What do you dislike? Automation and mode of use to be simplified with touch options to use on tabs and screens What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We do all our planning and map our actual time line to analyse the gaps, allocate resources etc

OK project scheduling

What do you like best? When doing scheduling for utility construction projects, Microsoft project one of the scheduling software we use! And, it is amazing. Helps logically order and plan out the activities. Shows us the critical path activities. What do you dislike? My favorite part about Project is the Gantt Chart. It gives everyone a nice visualization of how the project is scheduled out. The visual representation can show what dates the activities are starting and ending. ...

Nice" tracking of a project

What do you like best? I've been using MS Project for more than one year, and it has been very helpful because I can generate progress reports in an easy and quick way to send them to my manager, also allow me to have a better idea of the people involved in a project and to know where they will be available for the next sprint, project or bug fixing stage. What do you dislike? Although I like the reports that I can get from MS Project, I would like to have more options, for example ...

Great for Project Overview high level

What do you like best? What I like the most is the creation of a proper Project Management plan that provides overview of each step/phase/task in the project, who is responsible for it, the cost of work, the progress as a detailed, but also high-level overview. What do you dislike? The Project Manager needs to do many of the steps manually because nowadays companies for tasks and issue tracking use software that is not integrated with MS Project and Portfolio management. ...

The entire application is robust and a must have for all project managers What do you dislike? The vast features. Difficult to master all aspects. Ability to add financial reporting for the portfolio instead. Also capability to handle risk and issue in the same application What problems are you solving with the product? Plan your projects better

What do you like best? Ability to add and remove successors and predecessors, see the gantt chart in a matter of few clicks What do you dislike? I don't like resource planning of the tool, it kind of confuses an individual, I understand we can see the overburdened individuals with a red color symbol but it should also provides us the visibility about the bandwidth precisely to avoid running into deadlock of overburdened resources over and over again. What problems are you ...

Goto Software for Waterfall projects

What do you like best? I love how easy it is to plan projects within it. I can interconnect other projects within it and it will update all accordingly. The reports are still a little clunky however, they give the information you need for senior management and/or decision making. I can add some of my own programming to it to get desired visuals etc. What do you dislike? Its not easy to integrate this into sharepoint or to make the software email other team members on tasks due ...

Great For Planning, But Better Alternatives Exist

What do you like best? The line by line visualization of Project can help the user easily visualize their day to day tasks for a given project. I find that Project helps individuals easily track various tasks among whatever criteria they decide is best. Perhaps, the strongest aspect of using Project is it's similarity to the look and feel of other Microsoft products. The on-boarding process for a new Project user would be much more difficult, if the UI wasn't as Microsoft friendly. ...
