"Modeling for Production"
What do you like best about Maya? I'm fond of the customization and box modeling tools within Maya. I mostly use maya to build out low res cages for import to Zbrush. It's a very wuick workflow for me. The new retopo tools are also quite handy to work with. I have slowly been transitioning to using maya for retopo on my high resolution models. What do you dislike about Maya? The different viewport modes are taxing on my computer and graphics card. Sometimes the screen flickers when I change ...

"a drop on a ocean of opportunities "
What do you like best about Maya? I like the best the sun and sky rapid rendering, it´s easy to use and the result looks perfect What do you dislike about Maya? I dislike that with that wide range of options I tend to get lost in to the side menus options Recommendations to others considering Maya: If you use Autodesk software this is the way to go for your rendering and animation What problems is Maya solving and how is that benefiting you? for rendering I came from using keyshot for my ...

"Great and accessible software but let down with the new subscription service"
What do you like best about Maya? A powerful piece of software which I've found is a great introduction to the world of 3D modelling. I was taught this in University, however our classes were started off using 3Ds Max, but being a Mac user I quickly migrated to using Maya as it is more powerful and more widely accessible than Max. Honestly, I'm unsure why we weren't taught it from the beginning, seeing as a lot of us were Mac user's and 3Ds Max just seems inferior in comparison. What do you ...

"Very powerful but very difficult to use"
What do you like best about Maya? Autodesk Maya is an extremely powerful 3D software and is considered an industry standard in the film and video game industries. Maya includes modeling, texturing, animating, simulating, and rendering capabilities. Maya is impressive simply because is extremely powerful and offers many aspects of 3D as listed above. Maya also has a long list of big name productions backing it. Having used Maya after learning 3D on Cinema 4D I see that it is a very different ...

"Sorely in need of an overhaul"
What do you like best about Maya? Maya is still the go to for everything 3d. It has been the king for many years now. What do you dislike about Maya? It needs an overhaul as too many features have been implemented and not enough bugs have been fixed Recommendations to others considering Maya: Look at other alternatives. Houdini, Mari, Modo and others are catching up with Maya very quickly. Autodesk is going to have to do something pretty special to make me still want to use Maya! What ...

"most powerful modeling software I have ever used"
What do you like best about Maya? At the begining seems bit complex software, but after 1 month of use I have realized that I can model everything I want and I imagine, without mention the support grantes by all the scripts. This opened me a new world within design softwares. What do you dislike about Maya? Extrusion and offset surface tools end up in a bit dirty model with non manifold edges or surfaces crossing. If you desire a clean model you will have to place properly every vertex. ...

"The father of 3D Modeling Software "
What do you like best about Maya? It contains everything you need in terms of the modeling and animation of 3D scenes. Also MentalRay renderer, that is included in the package, provides realistic renderings by utilizing advanced options in the render panel such as Global Illumination, Final Gather, Ambient Occlusion, and many more. What do you dislike about Maya? This nothing like a real dislike, but in order to use Maya efficiently and to do what you have imagined needs quite a training. ...
