Magento is simply the best ecommerce platform on the market. No cookie cutter here.

What do you like best? The customization if critical for today's online businesses. With even more competition from Amazon, you need to be able to compete in a content driven search world. Cookie cutters like Shopify and BigCommerce are not driving the conversions for small businesses. You need to set yourself apart from the pack and Magento helps you do that. What do you dislike? Magento needs to have a omni-channel solution, so more things can be done under one hood, and not so ...

Magento - For Some But Not For All

What do you like best? Magento is a super powerful e-commerce platform. Now with the edition of MCC (the Magento Commerce Cloud, the platform is more powerful than ever. I love Magento's modular flexibility. You can do nearly anything with the vast array of Magento extensions if not no worries, it can be customized. What do you dislike? Magento is expensive and it is far too robust for a typical small business. This platform requires a full-time administrator and it takes some time to ...

Massive ecommerce tool

What do you like best? It's ability to customize and add many available extensions is useful. For developers and content writers, it is a breeze. It can become very powerful. What do you dislike? It's massively complicated to learn and many times it becomes buggy once you customize too many default options. Stackoverflow has tons of issues that are posted about how many bugs Magento has. Recommendations to others considering the product Make sure you have a strong development team to ...

Best Open Source eCommerce Platform Ever

What do you like best? Magento has come a long way since 10 years ago when it competed with Interspire Shopping Cart, Zencart, OpenCart, and the numerous others of platforms that have come and gone. I would say that the best thing I love about Magento is it's community that supports its evolution. What do you dislike? It can be bulky if you have a novice running this platform. Especially if you are a high volume product retailer. Recommendations to others considering the product If ...

High Powered eCommerce

What do you like best? Magneto is great right out of the box. It has all of the powerful tools you may need for an eCommerce site. And if it is missing something chances are a solution exists through their extension marketplace. What do you dislike? The cost of ownership is pretty high. Some solutions are not do it yourself. Requires outside help which adds onto the cost. Recommendations to others considering the product Be prepare for a long road to go live. And a high cost. But in ...

When you can do anything, it's hard to do enough

What do you like best? Fully customizable, with great suite of built in features. What do you dislike? The sky is the limit, as long as your bank account can support it. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We use Magento to host our consumer facing online store. We've built in many extensions that speed up our processes of sending inventory to Amazon and eBay.

Third-party extensions needed to unlock many functionalities

What do you like best? Magento EE is a very flexible tool and includes a solid OMS, product catalog management, and a checkout system that works neatly. What do you dislike? Reporting in Magento's backend is really weak and not at all customizable within the platform. To do this, or anything else including 3PL integration and other essential items for even a smaller eCommerce operation, you need third-party extensions. These extensions create security and dev review issues that add ...

User Friendly Alternative to Shopify

What do you like best? Offer very similar features as Shopify at cheaper prices and friendly UI. The best thing that Magento offered was user experience. It was the first e-commerce platform that I had ever used and was extremely easy to get everything set up. If you are trying to choose between Shopify and Magento for your first e-commerce platform, I highly recommend trying out Magento, and then if you are comfortable, moving on to shopify (If your business has high inventory. Magento ...
