Won't work across a network

LibreOffice is a wonderful program. Every few years I try it again to see if it can meet my needs. I just tried it again over the past week. The problem: it only works for a single computer. It can not be used across a network. Its files can be seen among the other computers files, but when you click on it to open a LibreOffice file, the file will not open.
