GIMP - The unfortunately named but excellent free photo editor
What do you like best? Did I mention Free? And it works well? The interface is a bit dense and the terminology can be daunting. However, for most photo editing tasks GIMP will do the job quite well and simple Google searches walk you through the steps. The developers keep it up to date and it has a very good selection of tools and sub-attributes like fonts, brushes and export options among many others. I find that most tools are not intuitively easy to use but there is an abundance of ...

GIMP: Photo editing
What do you like best? GIMP Interface to use all its features like brightness, shade, background,Hue,brightness etc. I use this very often to edit pictures, icons, logos etc. Its very handy and free tool to photo-shop pictures. What do you dislike? Sometime there is not enough help to use some features. I had to google a lot to explore how to use that . I wanted to remove background and keep main picture as it is. So tried layering but was hard to use layering feature. Wish there is ...

I use it for high quality image capture and customisation.
What do you like best? The retaining clarity and pixels of the images and use in Linux environment. What do you dislike? The software processing time. It takes little more time to open and save pictures. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Capturing and editing images from different design software without compromising image quality.

Very impressed with this freee software! I recommend giving it a go!
After playing around with GIMP for many hours over a few days, i can say that i am very impressed with this software - especially considering it is free!I am very used to photoshop, but after switching over to a new computer that doesnt have photoshop and not sure that i use the software enough to justify spending £10.00 a month i thought i would try out gimp before reconsidering.Admittedly the first few hours were somewhat fustrating and i had to read tutorials to understand many ...

GIMP nice but not the best
What do you like best? I really liek this program and its one of the best to edit profesionally photos or pictures but its not the best software to simply edit the images. Thats something that they can work on - try to distinguish these options to simplify the layout. Number of tools and function is one of the best in its category What do you dislike? program could be a bit more simple, editing of images is not as easy as it should be Recommendations to others considering the ...

I prefer it to photoshop
What do you like best? Best of all, it's FREE to use! Possibly one of the best open source alternative to a high end product that I've ever used. What do you dislike? Photoshop has some great filters/presets that professionals offer as packages (free or paid for), but you can't use these in GIMP. Also, if you know either GIMP or Photoshop, it's a little difficult to switch between them, because things are called something a little different or in a slightly different place. Not ...

The perfect free software for image manipulation
What do you like best? - It just works! It has plenty of tools to edit and improve the quality of your photos. - Its architecture allows the creation and use of plug-ins to do interesting things (like filters, automatized work-flow operations, etc). - It's free software, so you can download, install and use it with no worries about what the license allows and what doesn't. - It's multi-platform, so you can install and use it on Windows, MacOS X, GNU/Linux up to Sun ...

Great open source image editor
What do you like best? The best thing is obviously that GIMP is free. But still it is kept up to date, for example it supports the new image format AVIF that other competitors do not support. GIMP has lots of features and I did not found anything I could not do with it. The community is really big, so if there are some issues you've just to ask for help and someone is always there happy to help. Moreover you can install GIMP on your operating system of choice, since it is available on ...

Photoshop with zero cost
What do you like best? 1. Vaste array of functions. 2. Lots of image extension support. 3. Free cost is the biggest point. What do you dislike? 1. Learning curve attached to GIMP as it has lots of features. 2. Support is not great if we compare it with other leading designing tools. Recommendations to others considering the product: Learn before using it. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? The Probelm I want to ...
