OK FOR BASIC PURPOSES

It's ok as a quick supplement to more detailed learning. I use the free app which is a very short daily lesson. Even when I've practised that day, it sometimes claims I haven't - maybe the time difference between the USA and UK? A bit odd. And the animated characters eg giving a high five are a bit annoying even if jokey. The only colour I've been taught after about a year is pink!

They often change the program, rules

I have had them change the course completely 2-3 times now, completely disrupting my learning. In the beginning it was good; but now i want to leave. They have strange phrases (I want to surf with the green owl) and confuse things with constant homosexuality phrases (keep it simple: "her wife" is just confusing). But after 1000 days I still am at it, as it is free and the best option I see. I just wish they would stop changing things, as every time it gets worse.

Duolingo is only good

Duolingo is only good. Once I typed the right answer, it showed wrong. It doesn't explain why this answer is wrong. THESE ARE CONS. Pros It is a fun learning website It lets us compete with others It has great achievements It left me with a conclusion that if you know the reasons why you get wrong while learning, I would prefer or else if you do not know the reason then don't choose. It is just for practise.

Duolingo method of teaching is amazing

Some pasts events or encounters are really connected to some of our future manifestations. When you are at a crossroads and can't decide which action to take, you should take a memory travel back into some past events, some of your unanswered questions about the future has been answered back in the past without your understanding. Growing up, I was fascinated by the Spanish language, which inspired me to give myself the nickname Santo (Saint in Spanish) back in junior high. So I got to ...

I use several language programs, here are my thoughts

I speak French pretty well and started using Babbel, along with Duolingo, to help me become more comfortable in my daily conversation. I moved to France so the ability to have real conversations is rather important. I get by rather well and the average American might consider me fluent, but not me, I hold myself to a very high standard. Both of these programs, which I have been using for about two months, are great for what they are, but they emphasize written, formal, French rather than ...

Great for starting, weak on moving to intermediate

While Duolingo is great for learning the basics, it’s value diminishes as you advance. It’s very rigid with certain words in its vocabulary universe, often rejecting perfectly accurate synonyms. It’s as if you’re working with an artificial subset of the language rather than the language itself; training wheels are great when you’re learning how to ride a bike but at some point in the process they have to come off. It’s totally arbitrary in its assignment of gender, e.g English words like ...
