Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

  • Lacks robust customization options for advanced users, particularly in file storage and integrations, which can limit flexibility.

  • Minimalist feature set may lack advanced capabilities like complex reporting or kanban customization that power users might expect.

Great for sharing and project management

What do you like best? I like how easy it is to use, and how clean its interface is. Great UX. What do you dislike? I think that BaseCamp can continue to build on its list of partners, so we can easily integrate into other tools we're already using. Recommendations to others considering the product Definitely one of my favorite project management tools ever! What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? File sharing, project ...

Great Idea with Room for Improvement

What do you like best? The ability to make digital edits and have notes/the master document was nice. It speeds up the routing process and makes communication a bit easier. What do you dislike? The inability to color code various projects or stages in the process hindered our use of Basecamp slightly. There were members of our team that were reluctant to move away from a paper routing/edit system. Recommendations to others considering the product Basecamp is a great way to keep a ...

Official location for client communication that meets my needs

What do you like best? Accepts large file sizes - much larger than email can handle. Allows the whole team to be on the same page - it's too easy to leave someone off an email thread Nice that you can see conversation view or file view. I really like the condensed conversation view. What do you dislike? I really dislike how hard it can be to find conversations. Things get buried deep down in threads. The same thing happens in email though. The newest version of Basecamp is ...

Excellent Project Management Tool

What do you like best? I love that Basecamp ease of use. The website is clean and easy to navigate. The ability to have discussion and upload files is a great addition to the to-do list function (which is probably what my colleagues and I use the most. The fact that you can set due dates and assign tasks to certain people is a great organizational tool. The fact that all tasks from all projects are synced onto a single calendar is also helpful. It is also very useful to have the ability ...

Not recommended for detailed project management

What do you like best? The interface looked nice and it was fairly easy to set up and move between projects and tasks. Since Basecamp is web based, it made it easy for all users to access whether they were on location or remote. The speed was good as well. What do you dislike? There were no features built in for tracking or accountability. People could upload notes and documents, but there isn't reporting available for a way to export a project plan and easily track deadlines being ...

Cost effective but clunky.

What do you like best? Basecamp is one of the lowest cost project management services out there. What do you dislike? The interface quickly becomes messy and search isn't as powerful as other platforms. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Centralized system for files and communication.

Confusing Interface but useful for group projects

What do you like best? It's great to assign different people tasks and to follow up with them that way. Good way to keep track of who is in charge of what, and to see the status of different projects. What do you dislike? It's annoying to get separate emails - instead of keeping it all on the platform so that you can check when you log in, you get multiple email alerts when someone responds or posts something on the page. Recommendations to others considering the product I find it ...

Great way to keep projects organized

What do you like best? I like the way that this software keeps conversations organized on projects. It's very easy to follow the course of a conversation to see how projects develops. You get notifications when things are updated. What do you dislike? Depending on your email software, you may not get the alerts when things are updated. If that is the case, you do need to check this on a regular basis. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you ...
