Positive experiences with Basecamp
What do you like best? Its ability to enhance project management and organization. What do you dislike? The email notifications it sends to flagged recipients sometimes appear as spam -- and you can't respond only directly to the sender (that I know of, rather it goes to the entire thread. Recommendations to others considering the product Make sure you update your Basecamp. I also use it for a nonprofit board that I sit on -- for years we were using an outdated version, never got ...

Pretty Good Project Management... Some Frustration
What do you like best? Basecamp is great because there's enough people out there already using it that I rarely get pushback from clients and team members when I tell them that we'll be using it to manage a project. There are important exceptions to this, however, which I mention below.* Overall, it's a simple tool to use for collecting information and tracking projects. The template projects feature is a handy feature and even new users are able to get the hang of things quickly. ...

Basecamp makes everyone accountable and organizes projects
What do you like best? - Fast, easy to use interface. - Great dashboard. - Visually, it's interesting and efficient to help speed navigation. - Everyone is accountable. You can't say "I didn't get that email" or "I didn't know where to find the file" etc. Everything is contained in the project on Basecamp for all to see. - Timelines, to-dos and message boards are great tools for projects. - Really easy to scale, add seemingly numerous projects and data capacity. What do ...

Decent team project management
What do you like best? The ability to keep projects collaboration in one place for large teams is helpful. What do you dislike? The system as a whole felt a bit cumbersome. It was also more of an aggregate system than a true collaboration system - everyone would just dump files in and set tasks rather than truly collaborate, but that was probably more an issue of how we implemented Basecamp than anything. Recommendations to others considering the product I would say that if you're ...

Rabbit hole at times
What do you like best? Access to multiple projects and ability to hide stuff from clients and keep it within the team What do you dislike? Can't preview documents, every file downloads to computer - no ability to even browse through it without download. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Marketing agency with b2b manufacturing clients. We are a certified hubspot partner and we execute inbound marketing.

Keep yourself organized and Motivated with Basecamp!
What do you like best? The ease of use. You can organize and assign tasks very easily. What do you dislike? It would be good to have more functionality around reminders, not defaulting to getting a reminder a day before the task is due. Recommendations to others considering the product It is a solid tool but does require time to set-up and organize things correctly. They have a 3rd version of the product, but the 2nd version seems to be a better product based on what we have tested. ...

Mostly Great Product for Team Collaboration
What do you like best? Easy to use, love the separation between team members and clients. It puts everything in the same place, and keeps a paper trail for us to keep people (both clients and team members accountable for things they have said or promised in the past. What do you dislike? Sometimes confusing about uploading files. No easy way to leave a comment trail on images that have been revised. Have to uploaded as new versions. Recommendations to others considering the product ...

Basecamp is too much for me
What do you like best? I like the level of detail that can be achieved with Basecamp. You can track a communications trail and all the information on a project from Day One easily. What do you dislike? Same thing - I feel like you have to sift through way to much historical information to get to a current message or request. It is overwhelming to log into Basecamp if there is a busy project or more than three people contributing to a thread - I wish it was easier to view only new ...

Mixed Feelings on Basecamp
What do you like best? I like the ease in which you are able to collaborate with others in the project or on the project team. This is one of the things they do best, and it is great for both collaboration and visibility. What do you dislike? In terms of actually tracking the progress of a project, the milestones and dependencies, it didn't blow me away. Felt more like a forum/file sharing tool rather than an outstanding project management tool. Recommendations to others considering ...

Great team organizer
What do you like best? There are many things to love about Basecamp. It provides a great set of tools for managing a diverse team around a project. I especially love the tasks tool, which allows for deadlines, assigned people, and notes on the task. They are constantly releasing improvements, which are both helpful for users and promising for the future of the software. What do you dislike? My only suggestion is to give users a consolidated to-do list outside of a single Basecamp that ...
