Great for our agency.

What do you like best? It's great to break down tasks within projects. You can see your tasks, and everyone else's. You can see which tasks were completed and by whom. The messaging/comments are a great way to keep everyone involved informed. What do you dislike? The calendar would be a more useful tool if it was integrated better for notifications for goals or deadlines. Recommendations to others considering the product Use the greasemonkey script to customize. What business ...

Using Basecamp for marketing retainer projects and internal needs

What do you like best? I like the simple organization of the platform, this makes it very easy for my team and I to stay on the same page. This also helps my clients and I understand who is working on what and when it is due. What do you dislike? You can only assign an item to one person and at times that is restricting to the reality of the project. I would like several people to get updates on due dates and such this can be where the ball gets dropped. Recommendations to others ...

Basecamp - excellent project tracker and communication tool

What do you like best? The ability to bring multiple people into one project, regardless of location -- one place where we all can communicate, update each other on individual tasks and file share. What do you dislike? The email notifications can be overwhelming sometimes, but at the same time -- it is a useful tool for knowing when someone has responded to a comment or question without having to be logged in to Basecamp all day. What business problems are you solving with the ...

Easy program to get started on

What do you like best? I like that the text documents that can be opened in multiple tabs so that you can cross reference them at your leisure. This is an improvement over what functionality is available in Google Docs, in which I can only have open 1 PDF at a time, and opening in multiple tabs is difficult. I also LOVE that I can see who made changes to a document and go back to previous versions in case something is lost or changed and shouldn't be! What do you dislike? I don't like ...

Seamless Calendar and Tasking Service

What do you like best? It has a clean user interface and I like that you can forward emails to it. I like how it sorts things into projects paired with the calendar. I like that the events can be synced to other calendars for backups. What do you dislike? I don't like that it's somewhat challenging to get others to use the software to its fullest. Also, I don't like how attachments to the email show up with the projects. What business problems are you solving with the product? What ...

With Basecamp Project Management is Too Simple

What do you like best? Basecamp lets you quickly set up an account and jump right into project management. One can easily add people from your team or client & useful in communicating with teams who were physically distant, particularly those working in different time zone. What do you dislike? There is no way to filter all unassigned tasks & populate the list? Although it is possible for one account at a time but no luck if you are managing many accounts say more than 25 ...

Great Collaborative Tool

What do you like best? It's a great place to coordinate projects with teams that work remotely. What do you dislike? The default messages are annoying at first, until you realize that you can turn off the notifications. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I work with a team of 8 people, who all live in different states. This tool allows us to have the most recent version of all of our sales documents, communications and ...

Excellent for team collaboration

What do you like best? Great at create to-do lists and building templates of to-do lists, and gives you an excellent view into the to-do lists of others on your team. Daily email recaps of tasks are very useful when managing tasks with multiple people. What do you dislike? The calendar view isn't very useful, looks like it can be improved with add-ons but they all add to the cost. It's not particularly great at assigning tasks to multiple people at once or having shared tasks. ...

Works for some projects

What do you like best? I like the daily digest emails. I like having files (notes, screenshots, etc. all in one place. Commenting features are helpful for collaboration. What do you dislike? I don't feel like Basecamp is right for every project or every person. There are a lot of people who won't/don't go out of their way to a website that is not already a part of their routine, so Basecamp to them can feel like a chore. The email notifications help, but if people aren't logging in and ...
