Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

Great project management tool

What do you like best? Ability to track and assign tasks, monitor deadlines, post files. What do you dislike? Too many options for communication: pings, campfires, hey, etc. Recommendations to others considering the product Consider really tailoring the set up and tools available in Basecamp so as not to overwhelm users. Definitely use Basecamp 3 to give users more control. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Collaboration ...

Good Cross-Team collaboration and project management

What do you like best? I like that I can follow and subscribe to the projects my colleagues are working on. I also like the fact that task management can be collaborative with comments and document uploads. I also like the daily/weekly check-in feature that acts as a virtual standup meeting. The email subscriptions for due dates work very well. What do you dislike? For myself, in the product management function, I still also need to use JIRA because our engineering teams have ...

Basecamp Review

What do you like best? Very easy on the eyes. The layout is dynamic and easy to edit. What do you dislike? Workflow, how to close out a task isn't really apparent. Even if it is only an admin level capability. Recommendations to others considering the product A great piece of software for a company to utilize for project management/tasks. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We are using it for workflow and assigning tasks to ...

Redesigned a blog

What do you like best? I liked the checklist aspect of Basecamp. Assigning tasks to colleagues while we were apart was very useful and productive to keep everyone up to speed. Everyone was really focused on things that they needed to complete without having to bother worrying about others. It made everyone accountable for their actions. What do you dislike? The Basecamp2/Basecamp3 issues caused some problems with my team. I disliked the amount of emails I as receiving via Basecamp. The ...

fine group project management

What do you like best? I like that there's a record of contributions in chronological order. What do you dislike? Hard to find files from past projects. Time tracking is not intuitive - can't see all your time entries for a week on one page, you have to view individual projects and tasks. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Keeping a log of projects and team member contributions. Allows us all to be able to see where projects are.

Great product for daily workflow management

What do you like best? My favorite thing about Basecamp is the app because I can access work and be part of the discussion from anywhere just on my phone. What do you dislike? I wish that Basecamp had more options for collaborating and sharing project ownership. I wish I could assign tasks to multiple people. Recommendations to others considering the product Basecamp is a great tool for folks looking to organize workflows and manage projects, especially teams who work remotely or ...

Easy to use project management product

What do you like best? Once you know your way around, it's easy to post new discussions and respond to threads. My team uses Basecamp mostly for assigning projects to the creative time, so there's a lot of posting documents for review, re-posting with edits and then commenting in the thread. What do you dislike? It's a pretty basic tool, if you don't need to do anything complex it works great. I wish there was a way to live edit PDFs or Word documents instead of having to download, ...

Keep it organized!

What do you like best? It's a great way to keep projects organized and all in one place. It is especially good if your team is spread out geographically. Too often things get said in email and forgotten, but everyone gets held accountable (via message or checklists via Basecamp. What do you dislike? Sometimes it unchecks names so people aren't looped in to all messages meaning they miss out on vital project information. Recommendations to others considering the product You'll be ...
