Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

Basecamp review

What do you like best? The conversation threads make it easy to follow along and navigate through everyone's comments. What do you dislike? I personally have my own to-do lists so I don't really use the tracking features but I think they're generally simplistic and easy to use. Recommendations to others considering the product Explore all the options and have a strategy meeting to determine how your team will best use the platform. Have regular check ins to make sure that ...

Great LightWeight App for Medium-Weight Projects

What do you like best? I like having a shared environment where everyone on the team has access to the same set of tasks, notes & files. I used to be a hardcore Microsoft Project user, but honestly - for the small-to-medium sized projects where I don't have hundreds of WBS boxes and have to provide Earned Value calculations, Basecamp is really a more appropriate tool. It does what I want to do more easily and quickly than MS-Project, and doesn't do the things I don't want to do anyway. ...

Great for Accountability

What do you like best? I like that you can upload documents and recreate a standard to-do list that is team shared and visible. There are no questions on where the team is on a project. What do you dislike? It provides accountability when something is missed, but getting people to log in daily is time consuming and usually happened only once a week. I think the process for setting up Basecamp was most beneficial rather than use of the product itself. What business problems are you ...

Too simple

What do you like best? Great for accessing conversation history. Very simple attachment upload. What do you dislike? Very hard to track multiple conversations across multiple topics. Very often when you are in a specific topic, you reference an earlier conversation ... you should be able to "tag" conversations across multiple topics for an easier point of reference. Recommendations to others considering the product Do your research and make sure Basecamp offers the micro features ...

Great for Delegating Tasks and Communicating Progress!

What do you like best? Communicating with co workers about assigned tasks and delegating projects in a clean, organized website layout. What do you dislike? Haven't had any issues. Really love the new updates. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Communication has been an issue in the past. This helps solve that. Also, tracking who is working on what is a great feature Basecamp has.

Perfect for contracting!

What do you like best? The tool is perfect for collaborating with my clients. As a part of Agile mindset, I often have to send things to clients and get feedback. Initially we tried the google docs but our clients like conversational approach better. Client's could create tasks and see the every status activity as an email which made them happy. What do you dislike? There is not much I don't like dislike. I wish there was a mac app instead of using it in web browser. Recommendations ...

One time at Basecamp..

What do you like best? Basecamp is user-friendly project management solution. My Event Planning team and I use it for our larger events, e.g. expos, crafts shows and corporate parties. We use the system to communicate details to our clients and get their feedback on last minute design/marketing changes. I really like how easy it is to get going, everything is self-explanatory and easy to navigate. It's super-easy to assign tasks to individuals and you can post with or without having to ...

Excellent small-team PM tool

What do you like best? The interface is extremely simple and streamlined. You get a great view of timelines and dependencies, to-dos, uploads, and tasks. You can send it to a new client and they'll adapt very quickly and in most cases intuit how to use the tool. Managing users and permissions is simple and easy. Milestones help keep everyone on track. What do you dislike? While BaseCamp is excellent for small projects and small teams, it falls apart with larger teams. Task management ...
