Solr allows you to build your own custom request handlers and allows you to import data from pretty much any datasource. It is extendible, allowing you write your own plugins/importers to expand the built-in functionality. A Simple, Yet Capable Search Platform
What do you like best? Solr is a fairly straight forward product, that does what ti's supposed to with minimal maintenance.
