Solr - Powerful and Flexible Search Engine

What do you like best? Solr is designed from th groud up for scalability. If you are launching a search product and expect demand to grow this is an excellent option. The support community is also excellent. One of the best Open Source projects out there. What do you dislike? For some tasks working with Solr requries customization beyond what is needed with commercial products. Solr lacks some data filters that commercial rpoducts offer. Entity extraction is basic. ...

A fairly solid search platform built on Lucene.

What do you like best? Solr is built on top of Apache Lucene, which is a trusted search indexing platform. What do you dislike? Managing the Solr instances was proving to be a pain, which is why we made the switch to ElasticSearch. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? General content indexing for recipes, articles, news postings, log data, reporting.
