Excellent DB

What do you like best? The easy way to configure and use it. Admin and cost is excellent. What do you dislike? So far this is a good solution, we don't have a dislike. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We are working in some POC for DB Migration and some internal training.

One of the biggest deals in databases in a long time

What do you like best? The tech behind the scenes is super cool, but more importantly the speed and cost improvements over traditional DBs are amazing. What do you dislike? The biggest issue is one that is unlikely to be addressed by the service itself: MS SQL support. Coming from a market heavy in MS SQL Server, it can be hard to convince clients to give something like Postgres a try, even though when coupled with Aurora it could save them money and increase performance. ...

DBA's love it

What do you like best? Aurora gives us the mysql we love and know, but takes care of some things about mysql we don't like. It's easy to setup and gives our DBA's more time to work on the data and not operations What do you dislike? need multi-master multi-region. DR in multipule regions is difficult for highly transactional workloads. Need to make this seamless What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We migrated all our on-prem to aurora ...

Aurora makes it easy

What do you like best? Aurora's backup strategy is fantastic. Using PostGRES on Aurora was easy, and I didn't have to put as much thought into what strategy I was going to use for backups. Just focus on software development. What do you dislike? The cost structure is a bit confusing. Its really just EC2 backed, and can get costly in a hurry. Recommendations to others considering the product: If you are okay with IaaS, I'd say Aurora is a very workable RDS solution. What ...

Love it

What do you like best? All the things it takes care of for you (bakcups ...) The new monitoring tools make performance tuning a breeze. With Postgress you can now pin explain plans which is huge for sytstem stability. What do you dislike? With MySql you don't have access to add indexes to some system tables, which makes querying some of them take a long time. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We use Aurora for all of our b2b cart ...

What do you like best? Running MySQL at scale was always a hard task with read replicas and high availability and so on. with Aurora it is easier. What do you dislike?
