Volta Medical Raises Sizable Funding of €36 Million in Series B
HealthTech startup- Volta Medical – total funding raised to more over €70 million after Series B Funding.
Volta Medical, a health technology firm based in Marseille, France, has announced that it has raised €36 million in Series B funding, bringing its total raised to more over €70 million. Volta Medical uses artificial intelligence to transform interventional cardiac electrophysiology.
In 2016, three doctors and a data scientist founded the company in Marseille. The startup creates software that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to assist doctors in treating difficult cardiac arrhythmias.
The latest funding round was led by Vensana Capital, with co-investment from Lightstone Ventures and existing investor Gilde Healthcare.
“There is a critical need to improve precision and consistency in cardiac ablation procedures for patients with persistent AF. With half of these patients requiring repeat treatments, clinicians need tools that enable them to better understand the disease and drastically improve patient outcomes.”
Volta Medical CEO and Co-founder Theophile Mohr Durdez said in the release.
The money raised in funding will assist future clinical trials, speed up the development of new products, help with full-scale US commercialization preparations, and pursue additional regulatory clearances.
“Volta Medical’s technology is designed to redefine how electrophysiologists make real-time decisions in pinpointing areas relevant to atrial fibrillation persistence. We applaud the team’s commitment to validating their products with an investment in multiple high-quality clinical trials,”
Justin Klein, MD, JD, co-founder and managing partner at Vensana Capital, said in the release.
