Brussels Airport acquires controlling stake in operations AI startup Jetpack
The operators of Brussels’ main airport said yesterday it had acquired a majority stake (80%) in the Belgian operations AI and data analytics business Jetpack. Founded in 2017, Jetpack currently has 15 employees on its team.
The startup’s software helps enterprises embed data science and software development capabilities into their internal IT networks but on a massive scale.
French SaaS company DL Software acquires Spanish firm Openbravo
Barcelona-based, DL Software, a consortium of France-based vertical software suppliers, revealed that it has acquired Openbravo, a manufacturer of a cloud-based unified commerce platform.
With this acquisition, DL Software, which consists of 23 companies arranged into four Business Units (Retail, Real Estate, Health, and Construction), hopes to expand its market reach internationally.
Lepaya absorbs UK training consultancy venture Speak First
Lepaya is in the midst of an acquisition binge; it most recently purchased Berlin-based firm vCoach, which provides AI-based online tutoring, in September 2022. In 2020, Lepaya has already acquired the data-driven training firm Smartenup.

German LiDAR outfit Scantinel seals extended €10 million series A
Scantinel, a startup working on photonic chip-driven LiDAR technology from its offices in Germany, has announced an extended series A raise of €10 million.
The series A participants comprised PhotonDelta, a photonics hub spurring photonic chip innovation from the Netherlands, as well as investments from existing Scantinel investors Scania Growth Capital and ZEISS Ventures.
Shanghai’s traffic analysis platform gets data move to assist parking services
Traffic data in Shanghai are now traded on the city’s data exchange, and its first deal was completed at the Global Data Ecosystem Conference 2022 on Friday to assist the city’s parking services.
The data are managed by the official transportation mobile platform, Suishenxing, initiated by the city’s government, and operated by a state-owned company, Shanghai Mobility Service Technology Co Ltd.

Munich’s Temedica adds €25 million in Series B round, now at €42 million
Munich-based medtech startup Temedica has added an additional €25 million to its Series B round, now taking the total to a healthy €42 million. The extension round was led by existing investors MIG Capital as well as an undisclosed Munich-based family office. The new funding is aimed at further expanding the company’s product ecosystem.
Are tech valuations artificially low, or are we simply returning to reality?
Because there have been “crunches” at various stages before, the fact that Series Cs are particularly stubborn today might not ruffle your feathers. But because C rounds could be considered the gateway to late-stage startup status, many upstart tech companies are staring down a widening chasm from their Series A and B rounds and their hoped-for future.
